Newsletters
Woodlands of Ireland will release a quarterly newsletter designed to further inform you of Woodlands of Ireland activities, including training courses, events and networking meetings. You can browse and access previous newsletters in the list below or sign up for future newsletters.
In tandem with our quarterly newsletter we have put together a calendar of events that highlight activities connected to Ireland's native woodlands, offering opportunities to engage with nature, conservation efforts and courses across the country. The intention behind this calendar is to enable different entry points to native woodland conservation, establishment and progressive native timber utilisation from seed to sawmill. The calendar events that are listed are hosted by other eNGO's, community groups, the government and private companies. Woodlands of Ireland has listed these events for information purposes but does not have any part in organising them unless explicitly stated.

Welcome to our Spring newsletter and our first of 2026! We hope it finds you in good health ahead of St. Patrick’s Day. March marks an important time in the woodland calendar when tree planting is in full swing, and flushing growth begins to follow a rise in ground and air temperature.
National Tree Week (March 8th to 15th) was a great opportunity to highlight the value of trees and woodlands for biodiversity, climate resilience, landscape and cultural heritage. See more below of Woodlands of Ireland’s activities during Tree Week and over the past few months since our Winter newsletter. In this newsletter, you will also read more about our upcoming webinar on March 19th on the Native Woodland Strategy 2026 (REGISTRATION) and the Woodlands of Ireland sponsored “Native Woodland Conservation Award” at the RDS Forest and Woodland Awards, as well as an update on Native Woodland Conservation training and supporter member opportunities. We also welcome the recent Forestry Programme Midterm Review recommendations by the Forest Service of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and recommend browsing our Native Woodland Events Calendar for events and training you can attend near you.
Thank you for being part of this network, and we look forward to sharing more updates with you throughout the year. Our next newsletter will be in June, in the middle of Summer.
