										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Woodlands of Ireland (WoI) in conjunction with the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Forest Service of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine ran some webinars on the topic of Native Irish Tree Seed Collection in 2021. The webinars arose out of discussions from the Woodlands of Ireland <a href="https://www.woodlandsofireland.com/tap-groups/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Technical Advisory Panel (TAP)</a> group meetings. The TAP groups are made up of key expert individuals who provide technical expertise and guidance on specific matters or projects. The <a href="https://www.woodlandsofireland.com/seed-collection-and-sustainable-plant-production-tap-group/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Seed Collection and Sustainable Plant Production</a> group addresses issues relating to native tree seed collection, forest reproductive material (FRM), seed collection permits, and <a href="https://www.woodlandsofireland.com/links/native-provenance-planting-material/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tree nurseries</a>.</p>
<h3>&#8216;Setting the Context for Native Irish Tree Seed Collection: The Genetic Resource&#8217;</h3>
<p>The first webinar took place on November 5th 2021 and involved two presentations as outlined below:</p>
<p><em>&#8220;The Diversity and Distribution of Ireland’s Native Trees&#8221;</em> by Dr. Jenni Roche, NPWS</p>
<p><em>&#8220;The National Register of Forest Basic Material and Considerations for Seed Collection&#8221;</em> by Brian Clifford, Forest Service of DAFM</p>
